Rowlux Chandelier Earrings by Marisa Pawelko

For today's blog hop project, our favorite craft designer Marisa Pawelko of Modern Surrealist created an awesome pair of Rowlux chandelier earrings cut with one of the NEW steel rule dies from her soon to be released Modern Surrealist collection for Sizzix! We are excited to assist Marisa in unveiling this new shape cutting tool to the market! If you are eager to make Rowlux earrings today, see Marisa's current line of steel rule dies, many of which can be used to cut Rowlux earrings with the assistance of a hole puncher. These ones would be perfect for a night out on the town and can be made in any color of Rowlux to suit your gift recipient's unique sense of style! They are super easy to make by die cutting Rowlux (or you could also use scissors), embellishing with gems adhered with Dodz from 3L Adhesives - which work great for all your Rowlux project needs! Add some jump rings and earring hooks and you've got yourself a super fast and stylish custom handmade gift! And if all that wasn't enough, Marisa also shows you how to create a custom 2-in-1 earring stand (embellished with Gem Brads from Ice Resin Art Mechanique) that also doubles as a picture frame!

Scroll down for a full step-by-step tutorial on this awesome and easy project!

Step one, gather up all your supplies.

Cut out the Rowlux frame using one of the frame dies from the Eileen Hull collection for Sizzix.

The Rowlux cuts really easily with both the Sizzix Big Shot and the Sizzix's Eclips electronic cutter!

Assemble the frame with the gem brads.

Optional: Print out a photo, or inset a handwritten sentiment into the frame.

Now you are ready to cut out the base for the chandelier earrings out of Rowlux! For these earrings, Marisa went with the Hot Pink 3D Rowlux, but feel free to change up the colors. We have tons of different Rowlux colors and patterns to choose from!

Cuts like butter!

The versatile steel rule die allows for three different options for the dangling charms: teardrop, circle and square! For these Marisa used the square danglers in Lime Green 3D Rowlux.

Cut out six squares for the charms using Westcott Titanium Bonded Scissors and lay them each onto the die over the dangler shape you've selected.

Cut out all of the danglers one at a time.

Attach the danglers to the earrings using jump rings and jewelery pliers.

Get ready with your earring hooks and gems!

Attach flat back gems to the earring base with Dodz
The Dodz adhere really well and are perfect for Rowlux projects!

Repeat on both earrings.

Add your earring hooks and get ready to share this amazing gift with all of your stylish friends!

Handmade Holidays Blog Hop - Day 2 - Rowlux Trinket Box with Upcycled Ice Resin Embellshment by Marisa Pawelko

Handmade Holidays 2014 Hop Logo

Welcome to day 2 of the 4th Annual Handmade Holidays Blog Hop! A few years ago we were looking online for handmade gift ideas and thought it would be great if there was a resource dedicated JUST to handmade gift ideas. Enter the Handmade Holidays hop! Today of the blog hop, we are featuring a artistic trinket box created by our resident crafting guru Marisa Pawelko of Modern Surrealist. Marisa designed this innovative Rowlux gift box that features molded Rowlux flower petals and a super cool upcycled bottle top embellishment made with Ice Resin and beads. The box was cut with a die from the Eileen Hull collection by Sizzix and assembled with Dodz from 3L Scrapbook Adhesives and adorable blinged out gem brads from Art Mechanique. It makes a great gift on it's own and could also be used to house another small gift such as candy or jewelry!

Scroll down for a full step by step project tutorial on this easy and super customizable trinket box!

Create a custom embellishment by arranging beads inside of a bottle cap. It helps to keep the arrangement in place with Dodz. Then mix up some Ice Resin and pour over the assembly taking care not to overflow the cap. Set aside to cure for 3 days.

Cut out the Rowlux box pieces using the Sizzix die. In this case we selected Rowlux in the translucent pastel purple leaf design.

Assemble the base of the box with Dodz.

Next  begin assembling the top of the box using the gem brads.

For this step I created a template with punched holes to use as a guide.

Here you can see we chose some contrasting translucent Hot Pink 3D Rowlux to accent the corners of the box.

Mark the location of all the holes to be punched both on the box top and on all four of the corner brackets.

Assemble the box top with the gem brads.

Use another Sizzix die to cut out some flowers in assorted colors of Rowlux.

Get out your heat tool.

Carefully heat mold the flowers into a natural shape.

Assemble the embellishment by layering the flowers and Ice Resin bottle top and securing to the box top with Dodz. Dodz work really well on Rowlux projects!

Rowlux Statement Necklace by Marisa Pawelko

Today's inspiration project was designed by Rowlux's resident crafting expert Marisa Pawelko of Modern Surrealist. Marisa created this gorgeous statement necklace out of Rowlux using some of the funky Modern Surrealist steel rule dies from her collection with Sizzix and Westcott Brand scissors. She incorporated some really beautiful Bezels, Art Mechanique Silhouettes, Gem Brads from Susan Lenart Kazmir Ice Resin, super strong and dimensional adhesives from 3L Scrapbook Adhesives, beads, baubles, chains and other various unique findings! Scroll down for a full step by step project tutorial showing you how to create this incredibly stylish piece of statement jewelry!

First thing you're gonna want to do is gather up all your supplies.

Trace the shape of the bezel onto the Rowlux and then trim inside that line to fit.

Once you've cut the Rowlux to size, test it inside the bezel to make sure it fits.

Layer the piece on top of a 3D Foam Creative Sheet.

Trim the excess with Westcott Brand Titanium Bonded Nonstick Scissors.

Peel the paper backing off of the sheet.

Adhere the shape to the inside of the bezel.

Layer up more Rowlux on a 3D Foam Creative Sheet and die cut with the Modern Surrealist Big City die from Sizzix

Repeat this step with more Rowlux cutting stars with the Modern Surrealist Bustier Mini Card.

The Modern Surrealist Bustier Mini Card die also cuts cute little hearts that you will also see featured on this necklace as we progress along.

Assemble all of the die cut pieces of Rowlux into the bezel to suit your liking.

Then you are ready to begin embellishing some Art Mechanic Silhouettes.

Trace the shape with a freshly sharpened pencil.

And cut the Rowlux to fit on top of the hearts.

Adhere the Rowlux to the hearts with Dodz.

The Dodz work amazingly well for securing Rowlux on projects!

Embellish another silhouettes using one of the 3 shapes included on the the Modern Surrealist Lush Lips die from Sizzix.

And layer it up to suit the look you are going for.

Continue embellishing in this method using the Dodz and 3D Creative Sheets.

Punch some holes into a piece of rowlux and add some blinged out brads from Art Mechanique.

Secure the assembly in place with more Dodz.

Then it's time to get out your beading platform and begin arranging your jewelry elements. Get funky!

And here you can see the beautiful finished product in all it's colorful glory!
